New Round of Grants to local Businesses

by timpickstone on 6 April, 2021

A third round of business grants is now available to Bury firms to reopen in a Covid-safe way and promote their businesses to bring in more visitors and customers.

Schemes include:

Safe Reopening Fund
Grants of £8-18k
To help businesses in retail, hospitality and leisure sectors (fewer than 50 employees) reopen

Recovery Expertise Fund
Grants of up to £5k
For specialist support to help SMEs grow, e.g. online marketing and retail support

Town and District Centre Independent Retail Support Grant
Grants of £4-9k
For independent retailers in town and district centres that were not ordered to close but have lost business due to Covid-19

Tourism and Culture Fund
Grants of £10-25k
For organisations employing 5-50 people that attract visitors and tourists

Community Facilities, Social Enterprises and Charitable Organisations Fund
Grants of £4-9k
For community centres, social clubs etc that have not been able to access Local Restrictions Support Grants but can demonstrate financial loss due to Covid restrictions.

An independent ‘special cases’ panel will consider awarding grants to businesses which can show merit but have not been eligible for support. This panel will also oversee a one-off ‘special circumstances’ allocation to the East Lancashire Railway, which is deemed crucial to tourism and the town’s economy and identity, along with a structured recovery plan.

The Key Sector Fund will continue, with payments being doubled (to between £20k and £50k) to major employers in the borough whose survival is crucial to the borough’s economy and jobs.
