Vaccinations / Covid Update

by timpickstone on 26 February, 2021

As of yesterday, 59,000 people in Bury have had at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine. This means that one third of the eligible population (182,100) have been given at least the first done.

Bury’s jabs are being carried out by medical staff at four vaccination centres run by the Primary Care Network: the Elizabethan Suite in Bury, Bealey’s in Radcliffe, Ramsbottom Civic Hall, and the former Prestwich Walk-in Centre.

More details on the vaccination programme here.

Schools and colleges are reopening on 8 March, in line with the Government’s easing of lockdown restrictions. Additional safety measures have been put in place to support the return of students, including:

  • All pupils in the borough’s high schools will be offered three lateral flow tests in school during the first two weeks back. After the first two weeks students will be asked to test themselves at home
  • If a positive result is recorded the student will need to self-isolate and get a PCR test
  • Secondary school and college students and staff should wear face coverings in communalareas, where social distancing cannot be maintained
  • In primary schools face coverings should be worn by adult staff and visitors in communalareas where social distancing is not possible. Primary school children do not need to wear face coverings.
