‘Talk to Us’ is the message throughout July for the Samaritans who are raising awareness of their round-the-clock emotional support services and to encourage people to get in touch if they need support. 

Bury Samaritans has continued to provide emotional support throughout the pandemic at a time when listening to others has never been more important. Samaritans volunteers suggest that one in three callers talk about coronavirus with many people feeling more anxious and distressed than before the pandemic. 

They are asking the local community to show their support for our volunteers who  will be taking part in a  “Samarathon Challenge” and walking 26.2 miles on Friday 24^th July. You can see our route and donate via their website: www.samaritans.org/bury   

The Mayor of Bury, Councillor Tim Pickstone, is supporting Bury Samaritans as his official Mayoral Charity this year and will be joining volunteers on the ‘Samarathon’.
