Thursday is Polling Day

by timpickstone on 12 November, 2012

Don’t forget that Thursday is polling day for the Greater Manchester Police and Crime Commissioner election. This is to choose a person who will be in charge of our police services, so it is an important election.

Polling stations are open 7am to 10pm and there are no changes to where we vote. Depending where you live this will be:
– mobile van Baguley Crescent
– Lady Wilton Hall Simister
– St Margaret’s Community Centre, St Margaret’s Road
– Heaton Park Sports and Social Club, Bury Old Road,
– Prestwich Arts College
– Heaton Park Primary School, Cuckoo Lane.
If you have a postal vote that you have not yet had chance to return, you can take your completed postal vote along to any polling station on the day.

Matt Gallagher

I’m voting for the Liberal Democrat candidate Matt Gallagher. For me the decision is a simple one:

Matt is a retired Police Inspector, with over 30 years of experience of working in different areas of Greater Manchester. Both the Labour and Conservative candidates are politicians – Labour’s is a Manchester MP, the Conservative’s a former Wigan Councillor.

I believe it is important that the person in charge of our Police services understands the issues – this is what makes Matt Gallagher such a strong choice. You can find out more about his manifesto commitments to increase the number of local police ‘on the beat’ at his website here.
