School pupils are to be rewarded for designing Bury libraries’ new junior membership card.

The library service had asked all schools in the borough to put forward designs, and the winners were Isaac Mason (aged 11) from St Stephen’s Primary School and Brenda Achieng (aged 13) from Prestwich Arts College.

There are two new junior membership cards, and a new adult card which features the new library branding plus key fob.

The Mayor of Bury, Councillor Sheila Magnall, will officially launch the cards on Tuesday, June 9 at Bury Central Library.

She will also present Isaac and Brenda with framed copies of their winning designs and a gift of £200 for their schools.

Diana Sorrigan, assistant director (arts, libraries & adult learning), said: “It has been quite some time since we had the last redesign and we wanted to involve schools and younger people in creating a bright new design. It was really difficult to pick only two winners from more than 1,000 entries that we received.”
