Councillors will be voting on Bury Council’s budget for 2022-23 at a special meeting next week. Bury Council has a annual budget of around £210 million. As with all public bodies the Council faces pressures including increased prices, wages and increased demand. At the moment the proposals going to the meeting are for a Council Tax increase of 1.94% plus a further 1% social care precept increase (so 2.94% increase in total. This is subject to a final decision next Wednesday.
Some budgets have already been set, those at a Greater Manchester level. The Mayor of Greater Manchester has already set the increases for his parts of our Council tax bills. This is:
– Police 4.5% increase
– Fire – 7.55% increase
– Mayor’s General Budget – 28% increase.
