Please see below details of community events, and funding opportunities for the local community that are coming up in the Prestwich area:

Neighbourhood Race Listening Event – Prestwich and Whitefield
10am – 2:30pm, Monday 15th November 2021 at Sedgley Children’s Centre, Bishops Road, Prestwich, M25 0HT

Join local conversations and share your experiences of race. We would like to hear from groups and individuals about how race affects your experience of living, working and studying locally. We want to listen and learn, to make sure local services – council, health and other public services – are inclusive for everybody in their design, access and engagement. Please come along, share you experience and together we can make a difference.

Let’s Do It Together for Prestwich Forum
2pm – 4pm, Thursday 11 November 2021 at St Marys Community Centre, Church Lane M25 1AN

AND

6pm – 8pm, Thursday 11 November 2021 at Prestwich Methodist Church Hall, 1 Chapel Street Prestwich M25 1AA 

Please come along and join local conversations to start to co-produce neighbourhood Let’s Do It delivery plans 

The sessions are a place for voluntary and community groups and networks, faith groups, adult and community learning, social enterprises, cultural groups, sports clubs, local businesses, local public services and Ward Councillors to come together, to collectively develop neighbourhood plans and be a place where collective community action can thrive. 

The Prestwich Pitch
2pm – 4pm, Sunday 12th December 2021 – Parish Hall Our Lady of Grace, Fairfax Road M25 1AX

Each group applying for funding will exhibit on a stall at the event and it will be your chance to speak to them and choose who you think should get the funding.

Health Improvement Community Funding

As Part of the Let’s Do It! Strategy, Bury Council and partners in Team Bury have recently launched several funding opportunities for community groups and organisations to apply for. Please see below for the funding available in Whitefield and Unsworth and for more information on these funds, please visit: https://www.bury.gov.uk/neighbourhoodfunding

Coronavirus has had a serious impact on everyone, and it remains a serious health risk. This fund is to support local people and communities to recover from the coronavirus pandemic as we start to build back better and learn to live with the virus for the foreseeable future. It is part of a wider borough-wide programme that will support the future health, wellbeing, and resilience of our communities.

Applications open: 15 October 2021
Applications close: 30 November 2021
Value of funding available: Up to £20,000 per project

The Neighbourhood Pitch Funding – Prestwich

Up to £5000 – Deadline: 17th November 2021
Community groups in Prestwich are being invited to apply for Neighbourhood Pitch funding to support projects which will benefit their neighbourhood in the post-Covid recovery. Grants totalling over £300,000 will be available to support organisations to build back better in line with Bury Council’s Let’s Do It strategy. In Prestwich, there will be a total of £70,000+ to apply for, in which community groups can apply for up to £5000 per group

Who can apply?
Applications are welcomed from any community group, local network or voluntary organisations based in or working with communities in the borough of Bury. Community Groups can only apply to one neighbourhood pitch and groups are encouraged to only apply in the neighbourhood that they predominantly work in. 

What is the application process and how much can be applied for?

You can apply by filling out the application form online at: www.bury.gov.uk/neighbourhoodpitch or you can request a word or paper copy by emailing prestwichcommunityhub@bury.gov.uk

£70,000+ is available in Prestwich. Each project can apply for up-to £5,000

Climate Action Funding

Up to £15,000 per project – Deadline: 30th November 2021

The Community Climate Action Fund has been created to specifically enable community projects which will support Bury and its residents take positive steps towards tackling the global climate emergency as well as support Bury Council achieve its goal of carbon-neutrality by 2038. Applications are welcomes for projects that align with the Council’s Climate Action Plan, with examples including:

  • Renewable energy
  • Developing skills around the green economy
  • Increasing carbon literacy
  • Active travel initiatives
  • A shift to zero waste
  • Avoiding single use plastic
  • Enhancing Bury’s natural environment
  • Affordable energy and action to tackle fuel poverty
