A benefit concert for the Manchester Arena emergency fund will be held at Bury Parish Church on Sunday 16 July at 7pm.
Called “From Darkness into Light”, the concert is a collaboration between Besses Boys brass band, Bury Community Choir and Bury Young Voices, and will support the families of those killed and injured in the attack. It will bring together more than 100 performers aged 7 to 70.
Tickets are £5 and will be on sale from Monday 19 June at Bury Parish Church cafe and The Fusilier Museum. All proceeds will go to the Manchester fund.
The tribute concert will include ‘The Ultimate Manchester Mash-up’, arranged by Andrew J. Smith. This will comprise songs by the likes of the Stone Roses and Elbow and “Don’t Look Back in Anger” by Oasis, a song which many thousands recently sung at the One Love concert in Manchester.
The mayor of Bury Councillor Dorothy Gunther said: “I attended the ’Evening of Brass and Voices’ concert at Derby High School only 24 hours before the Manchester attack. The concert includes a medley of iconic songs originating from Manchester and it seems truly fitting that we repeat this concert in support of everyone affected by recent tragic events.
“I am so proud to be a member of our community and I hope that local people will come to the concert to stand together and support this worthy cause.”
