I just wanted to update residents on some work I have been doing around bin collections in both Simister and the Baguley Crescent/Heywood Old Road areas in the last week.

In Simister I understand that bins were not emptied on your new ‘bin day’ last week, but that the crews came the next day instead. I investigated this with Waste Management. Apparently this was the first time that this new ‘route’ which included Simister had been undertaken by crews and it wasn’t manageable on that occasion. No doubt thought will have been put into getting this right for the future, but in the meantime the crews returned the next day to get rubbish.

On Heywood Old Road and in Baguley Crescent there were significant issues with the leaflets explaining the new collection arrangements not being delivered. On Baguley Crescent I think this was because the teams thought that these were flats that weren’t changing to three weekly – but in fact you are.

Staff in Waste Management have been very helpful, and my understanding is that leaflets have now been delivered, and an assessment has been undertaken to make sure there are enough bins (in the Baguley Crescent area).

Heywood Court is remaining on weekly collection as you have communal bins.
