Free Events to encourage us to ‘Try Reading’

Cartoons, poetry and author talks have been arranged at local libraries as part of the national Try Reading Project. These free events aim to encourage people to visit their library more often and become an active member. The Try Reading Project is funded by the National Lottery and supported by the Arts Council England.

Cartoonist Tim Quinn at Prestwich Library

Wednesday 30 October – Prestwich Library and Adult Learning Centre (10.30am-noon)
Tim Quinn, famous cartoonist for Marvel and other comic books, will be holding a cartoon workshop for youngsters aged 10+. Booking is essential: call 0161 253 7214 or email prestwich.lib@bury.gov.uk.

Thursday 7 November – Radcliffe Library (7–8.30pm).
Tony Walsh, also known as Longfella, is a performance poet and Glastonbury celebrity. He will be holding an open mic session before giving his own unique performance. To book, call 0161 253 7160 or email radcliffe.lib@bury.gov.uk

Thursday 14 November – Castle Sport and Leisure Library, Bury (7-8pm)
